Sugar Cookies

I love October, November, and December and all the holidays associated with this time of year!  It is a great excuse to bake and spend time in the kitchen.  This sugar cookie recipe is a great one to start the season with...
3/4 C softened butter
1 C sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Cream together the butter and sugar.
Add eggs, vanilla, and almond extract.
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Chill for at least one hour.

Preheat oven to 400.
Roll out dough (about 1/4").
Cut into desired shapes.
Bake 6-8 minutes...definitely don't over bake!  The cookies should not brown.
Decorate when cooled!
