Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is the recipe that started it all...oatmeal cookies are my favorite so they were the most baked by yours truly in my youth.  I prefer raisins but any sort of sweet "chip" is great too!

1 C butter
1 C brown sugar
1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 C flour (at high altitude use 1 3/4 C)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
3 C oats
desired amount of chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or raisins

Preheat the oven to 350.
Cream together butter and sugars.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Mix in remaining dry ingredients.
Bake for 8-12 minutes.

Recipe from Quaker Oats.

  2. This receipt has succeeded in making me very fat……I was extremely skinny before adding these cookies to my regular diet. Best broken up in a mug, drenched in milk, and eaten like cereal. I think most of the food groups are included in these cookies. Every home food storage program must include enough materials to make these cookies for at least one year.
