On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...holiday chex munchies!
This recipe is completely customizable to various holidays or tastes. This is one of our favorite versions!
12 C chex cereal (a mix of corn and rice flavors)
3/4 C butter
1 C sugar
1 C corn syrup
2 C white chocolate chips
1 C crushed candy canes (about 12 large ones)
1 C coconut
Combine the cereal, chocolate chips, candy canes, and coconut in a large bowl and set aside.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add the sugar and corn syrup to the butter and combine well.
Stirring constantly, bring the mixture to a boil and boil to the softball stage (using a candy thermometer).
Pour over the cereal mixture and combine well.
Spread over a layer of wax paper until cooled.
