Happy April Fool's Day!

Happy April Fool's Day!  Teaching junior high, this has been the most relaxed April Fool's Day I have had in years because it falls on a Sunday :-)
These cupcakes were so fun to decorate.  I have seen so many different versions over the years of food replicated cupcake decorations and I was so excited to finally give them a try!

The first are my favorite.  Spaghetti and meatballs!
Using a small frosting tip, swirl white frosting on the top of the cupcake to look like noodles.
Put berry jam in a microwave safe bowl and warm up the jam for about 20 seconds (until it becomes more liquid-like).
Roll Ferrero Rocher candies in the jam and set on top of the frosting "noodles".
Add more "sauce" if you need more to dribble down the sides.
Shred white chocolate as parmesan cheese on the top.

These are potatoes I can really enjoy (if you remember my earlier rant against potatoes)!
Place a large glob of frosting on the top of a cupcake.  Make sure the frosting is a little stiff, otherwise your "potatoes" will not hold their shape.
Create a small well on the top and drizzle with caramel sauce, or "gravy".
Top with a flattened yellow Starburst, or slab of "butter".

Eat your veggies on these cupcakes!
Frost a cupcake with a layer of frosting.
Cut orange Starbursts into quarters.
Top the cupcakes with the Starbursts and green Runts, or "carrots" and "peas".

Happy April Fool's Day!
