Vanilla Cookies

My mother-in-law got me a cookie press for Christmas this year.  The cookies press can be used to make small cookies, cheese straws, and with icing tips.  I had fun making these tasty, crunchy vanilla cookies - and didn't feel bad eating so many because they are so petite!

These are the plates used to make different shaped cookies:

This is the dough gun used to squeeze the dough into cool shapes:

1 C softened butter
1 C sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 C flour

Preheat the oven to 375.
Using a hand mixer, cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl.
Mix in the egg, vanilla, cardamom, and salt until well blended.
Add the flour and stir it in with a spoon or using your hands until a dough is formed.
Follow the directions for the cookie press.
Bake cookies for 9-11 minutes until the edges start to turn golden brown.
Lay the cookies out on a cooling rack and sprinkle with sugar (regular or colored decorating sugar).
Store in an airtight container.
